If God is real, then real life can be lived only if we live it with him.
Science points to God and the central story of the Bible makes a lot of sense. However, the possible existence of God based on interpretation of facts and an old story, even when put together, is not enough to make Christianity valid. It has meaning only if it does what it says on the tin. So the test of the pudding is what happens if we give our lives to Jesus.
The Christian life can be experienced only by living it. It's designed to be that way.
God is good today
We are in the midst of a global crisis. Almost everyone has been affected to some extent. Sadly, many have lost their lives and even more are grieving the loss of loved ones. Medical services worldwide are stretched, in some cases almost to breaking point. Although for many of us lock-down is inconvenient, for some it is a serious health issue, and a lot of people suddenly find themselves in serious financial difficulty. What is God doing about this? If there is a loving God, then why has he allowed this to happen?
Those are some of the theological questions that many ask at a time like this. Concerning ourselves about religious matters can almost seem trivial when there are lives being lost and ruined. Yet, God is in the midst of all this. Jesus made it clear that what God wants is relationship with him. Once we have that, we can live life with him through any circumstances. Jesus, who is of course himself God in the form of the Son of God, healed thousands who put their faith and trust in him. He also ignored many others who were in need, in one instance healing just one man in Jerusalem in whom he saw faith, when there were many others at the same site who were sick. He told his disciples that they could expect significant hardship in life because they were his followers. God does not promise an easy life, or intervene automatically to smooth over the world's troubles. Rather, he works with those who have a relationship with him to bring about good in the midst of a world that is far from good.
Over the years, I have seen God do many things. I have seen him heal me, my family and others. Sometimes this has been an answer to my own prayers and sometimes others have done the praying. I have also seen him intervene to change situations in ways that one can describe only as miraculous. However, often one only sees what he is doing by having relationship with him. If we give our lives to Jesus, he opens our spiritual eyes to see what he is doing and then we find that he is good. For me that is real life. Life without God is by far a lesser experience.
